INTRACOM TO BUILD THREE ADDITIONAL PLANTS TO BOOST PHOSPHATE PROCESSING

📍Manyara The Itracom Fertilizers Limited mine, engaged in the extraction and processing of phosphate minerals at Vilima Vitatu in Babati District, Manyara Region, has commenced construction of a new large-scale processing plant aimed at increasing the production of raw materials used in manufacturing various types of fertilizers. The company’s Deputy Director, Nestor Nibitanga, said the mine currently operates one processing plant, which no longer meets growing market demand due to the rising need for fertilizers both domestically and internationally. “Our plan is to add three more plants to reach a total of four. This step will significantly increase the speed and volume of production. At present, we produce between 400 and 700 tonnes per day, but market demand is much higher,” said Nibitanga. ITRACOM MINE CONTRIBUTES TZS 1.29 BILLION TO GOVERNMENT REVENUE IN MANYARA

📍Manyara The Itracom Fertilizer Limited mine, engaged in the extraction and processing of phosphate minerals at Vilima Vitatu area in Babati District, Manyara Region, has contributed TZS 1.29 billion to government revenue since it commenced operations in 2023. This was revealed by Geologist Waziri Mkupe, speaking on behalf of the Manyara Regional Resident Mines Officer, Godfrey Nyanda. He stated that the revenue was generated from royalties and mineral inspection fees. He explained that since the start of production, the mine has produced a total of 69,929 tonnes of phosphate minerals valued at TZS 36.99 billion. The minerals have been sold in both domestic and international markets, particularly in Nala, Dodoma Region, and in Burundi. According to Mkupe, the contribution has strengthened government revenue collection and stimulated development in surrounding communities through the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. RITA Chief Executive Frank Kanyusi, told reporters here that the decision to break up the board is based on findings of a special report by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG)’s office presented to RITA yesterday. The report confirmed that the board grossly failed to discharge its duties defined in law and that it mismanaged church’s properties. He said the special report was made following complaints of members of the church alleging collective gross misconduct of board members.
