DAR CITY THE ONLY TANZANIAN TEAM GROUPED WITH AFRICAN GIANTS



The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has officially announced the two groups for the preliminary round of the 2026 season, along with the match schedule set to take place in different African countries. Tanzania’s Dar City Basketball Club is among the participating teams.

The 2026 season will officially tip off with the Kalahari Conference, scheduled to be held in Pretoria, South Africa, from March 27 to April 5, 2026. Dar City from Tanzania has been placed in this group, with all games set to be played in Pretoria. The club is the only team representing Tanzania in this international competition.

Al Ahly Benghazi – Libya

APR BBC – Rwanda

Dar City – Tanzania

Nairobi City Thunder – Kenya

Petro de Luanda – Angola

Johannesburg Giants

Following this stage, the competition will move to North Africa for the Sahara Conference, which will be held in Rabat, Morocco, from April 24 to May 3, 2026.

Ville de Dakar – Senegal

SKA Kings – Côte d’Ivoire

Petro de Luanda – Angola

Each conference will produce four of the top six teams to advance to the playoffs, which will be held in May in Kigali, Rwanda.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
