This historic project marks a major step in enhancing access to clean energy for fish vendors and small-scale entrepreneurs at the market. The new system allows users to pay according to their consumption ( PAYG ), enabling vendors to pay only for the gas they use. This eliminates the high costs of refilling cylinders and reduces daily expenses to as low as TZS 45,000 . The Manyara Regional Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Ahmed Makarani , has confirmed the killing of Form Four student Yohana Konki (17) of Qash Secondary School in Babati District , Manyara Region . He stated that police are holding 11 students, a school supervisor, and the school guard for questioning. According to SACP Makarani, the incident occurred in the early hours of August 16, 2025 , after some students took the law into their own hands by assaulting the victim, whom they accused of stealing a smartphone. The suspicion arose after the phone’s owner and his colleagues consulted a witch doctor who allegedly gave them misleading information through an illegal traditional divination practice. SACP Makarani further urged traditional healers to refrain from conducting such illegal divinations, stressing that it is against the law.
