The contestants of Miss Universe Tanzania 2025 have applauded the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her vision in promoting the tourism sector through infrastructure development at Mpanga-Kipengere Nature Reserve—an initiative that has made the reserve a major attraction in the Southern Highlands.
The remarks were made on August 29, 2025, after the contestants conducted a special tour of the reserve, located in Mbarali District, Mbeya Region, and managed by the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA). During the visit, they discovered vast opportunities to promote Tanzania internationally through the area’s natural heritage.
“We have experienced the history of Chief Mkwawa, sacred waters, and unique natural wonders. Mpanga-Kipengere is truly a national treasure. Now it is our duty as ambassadors to showcase this heritage to the entire world,” said Nais Sayona, winner of Miss Universe Tanzania 2025.
In addition to acknowledging the valuable lessons learned during the tour, the national director of the pageant, Millen Happiness Magesa, said the winner would incorporate part of the tour into her presentation at the global Miss Universe competition scheduled to be held in Thailand, emphasizing that this is a unique opportunity to market Tanzania through the reserve.
For his part, the Southern Highlands Tourism Officer, Ananias Lugendo, noted that the government has invested in improving infrastructure to make the reserve more accessible. He added that the variety of tourism resources makes the reserve attractive throughout the year.
“This reserve boasts over 53 waterfalls, including 13 of the 14 types found globally, with Kimani Falls being the main attraction. With the involvement of these beauty queens, the site will now gain international recognition,” Lugendo said.
Meanwhile, Pendo Kimaro, Tourism Officer at the reserve, said the visit by the contestants is a major step in promoting the reserve internationally through their national and global platforms.
“We want the world to know that Tanzania is full of wonders—not only wildlife, but also unique treasures with natural charm,” Kimaro emphasized.
The tour took place from August 27, 2025, involving the top ten finalists of Miss Universe Tanzania 2025, led by the pageant winner, Ms. Nais Sayona.
The participants had the opportunity to experience various attractions within the reserve, including the history of Chief Mkwawa, the “Garden of Eden,” a natural “massage” site, deep reflection points, forest walks, steam bathing, and the magnificent Kimani Falls, which measure over 250 meters in height.
