By Our Correspondent – Dodoma
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and faith-based institutions to strengthen their cooperation with the Government and join the National Humanitarian Services Coordination Network.
The call was delivered by the Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament and Coordination, Hon. Willium Lukuvi, who represented the Prime Minister during the commemoration of World Humanitarian Day held on August 19, 2025, in Dodoma.
“I urge non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and faith-based institutions to strengthen cooperation with the Government and join the national humanitarian services coordination network. Doing so will enhance coordination, accountability, and efficiency in addressing disasters,” he emphasized.
He further stressed the importance of humanitarian service providers focusing on public awareness so that citizens can follow professional guidance aimed at reducing the impact of disasters when they occur.
“Since there are disasters that cannot be avoided, I strongly urge humanitarian service providers to emphasize public education. Citizens must be educated to adhere to expert instructions in order to minimize the impacts of disasters when they strike,” he elaborated.
In addition, he urged citizens to actively participate in the implementation of strategies and campaigns on environmental conservation and protection, noting that such efforts are crucial in combating disasters, particularly natural ones.
“Environmental protection is very important in disaster management, especially natural disasters. I call upon all citizens to fully engage in implementing environmental conservation campaigns. One of the key steps is to adopt the use of clean energy. I remind all Tanzanians to actively take part in these important national campaigns,” he emphasized.
Speaking about the upcoming General Election of the President and Members of Parliament scheduled for October 29, 2025, he encouraged Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers and exercise their constitutional right to elect their leaders, including the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors.
“Let us come out in large numbers and exercise our constitutional right to vote. Every Tanzanian must understand that voting is both a right and a duty, as it enables us to elect good leaders who will accelerate the development of our nation,” said Minister Lukuvi.
World Humanitarian Day is commemorated every year on August 19. The 2025 theme is: “Strengthening Humanitarian Service Delivery and Resilience Against Disasters.”
