KAILIMA CLOSES MEETING ON PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN SCHEDULES



The Director of Elections at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Kailima R.K, has officially closed a two-day meeting between the Commission and 18 fully registered political parties that have nominated presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the United Republic of Tanzania. The aim of the meeting was to deliberate and jointly plan the campaign timetable for the parties.


The meeting, held on August 25 and 26, 2025, brought together parties including the Civic United Front (CUF), National Convention for Construction and Reform (NCCR-Mageuzi), Union for Multiparty Democracy (UMD), Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), National League for Democracy (NLD), United Peoples’ Democratic Party (UPDP), National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA), and the African Democratic Alliance Party (ADA-TADEA).


Other participating parties were the Tanzania Labour Party (TLP), United Democratic Party (UDP), Madini Kilimo Nishati (MAKINI), Democratic Party (DP), Sauti ya Umma (SAU), Alliance for African Farmers Party (AAFP), Chama cha Kijamii (CCK), Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC), Chama cha Ukombozi wa Umma (CHAUMMA), and the Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo).


The general election campaigns are scheduled to run from August 28, 2025, to October 28, 2025, nationwide. Candidates approved by the Commission will use this period to present and promote their party policies, seeking the mandate of citizens to cast their votes on October 29, 2025, during the general election.
