DOHA, QATAR:

Tanzania has showcased opportunities and attractions in mineral tourism to Qatar as part of efforts to promote the sector, increase tourist arrivals and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Deputy Minister for Minerals, Dr. Steven Kiruswa, led the Tanzanian delegation to Qatar, where he held talks with tourism officials and stakeholders on ways to strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and Qatar in promoting tourism, particularly mineral tourism.

Speaking after visiting and holding discussions with Qatar’s tourism authorities, Dr. Kiruswa said Tanzania has significant opportunities in the tourism sector, owing to its diverse attractions, including mineral tourism, wildlife, beaches and marine tourism, as well as attractions in Zanzibar.

He said the Tanzanian Government is ready to work with Qatar to develop and promote the country’s tourism attractions and attract more visitors, a move that would help increase revenue, create employment opportunities and generate economic benefits for citizens and the nation at large.

“Tanzania has many tourism attractions, including mineral tourism, wildlife, beaches and Zanzibar. We want to use this opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Qatar in promoting our attractions and increasing the number of tourists visiting Tanzania,” Dr. Kiruswa said.

For his part, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Habibu Mohamed, commended Qatar’s tourism leadership for agreeing to cooperate with Tanzania in developing and promoting tourism attractions in both countries.

He said the cooperation would help raise awareness of tourism opportunities available in Tanzania and Qatar, while increasing tourist arrivals and strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Saad Bin Ali AlKharji, commended Tanzania for expressing its willingness to cooperate with Qatar in promoting mineral tourism and other tourism sectors.

He pledged to support Tanzania in ensuring that tourism attractions, including mineral tourism, are widely promoted in Qatar in order to attract more tourists to Tanzania.

The cooperation is expected to create more opportunities for promoting Tanzania’s mineral tourism in international markets, while also stimulating investment and other economic activities linked to the tourism sector.
