NATIONAL EXAMINATION TIMETABLE FOR STANDARD FOUR, FORM TWO AND FORM FOUR CHANGED TO AVOID HEAVY RAINS
DAR ES SALAAM:
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in collaboration with the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), has revised the timetable for some national examinations and assessments for Standard Four, Form Two and Form Four that were initially scheduled for November and will now be conducted in October 2026, in a move aimed at avoiding challenges that could be caused by heavy rains expected across the country.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Ameir Hafidh, said the decision was reached after considering forecasts from the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), which indicate that El Niño rains are expected to begin in October and intensify in November 2026.
She said the decision also takes into account directives from the Prime Minister’s Office to take early precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, teachers and examination supervisors, as well as to ensure that examinations are conducted in safe and stable environments.
According to the Ministry, maintaining the original timetable could have resulted in various challenges, including the transportation of examination materials and documents due to the possibility of floods and damage to road infrastructure.
The Ministry added that adverse weather conditions could cause students and examination supervisors to arrive late at examination centres, while power outages and disruptions to communication services could affect examination preparations and administration in some areas.
The Ministry also said heavy rains could increase health and sanitation challenges at some examination centres, stressing that the safety of students, particularly young children, has been given priority.
Speaking about the new timetable, NECTA Executive Secretary, Professor Said A. Mohamed, said the Standard Four National Assessment (SFNA) will be conducted on October 5 and 6, 2026, while the Standard Two National Assessment (STNA) will take place on October 7 and 8, 2026.
He said the Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) will be conducted from October 12 to 23, 2026, while the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) will take place from October 19 to November 6, 2026.
Professor Mohamed urged all education stakeholders, including Regional and Council Examination Committees, heads of schools, teachers, parents and students, to make the necessary preparations in accordance with the new timetable.
The Ministry stressed the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure that the examinations and assessments are conducted safely, peacefully and in accordance with established procedures.
The official timetable and further instructions are available through the official website of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
