MINISTRY OF ENERGY WINS BEST PERFORMING MINISTRY AWARD AT MEL 2026

The Ministry of Energy has emerged as the top performer after winning the Best Performing Ministry Award in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) at the ongoing Fifth National Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Conference (MEL 2026) in Arusha.
The award was presented on September 23, 2026, by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Daniel Sillo (MP), during the official opening of the Fifth National Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Conference (MEL 2026).
The award recognises the Ministry of Energy for its performance and effective use of Monitoring and Evaluation systems to strengthen the implementation of plans, programmes and projects in the energy sector.
Speaking about the achievement, the Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Ministry of Energy, Ms. Anitha Ishengoma, said the Ministry was proud to have its efforts and achievements in Monitoring and Evaluation recognised, describing the award as a reflection of the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening evidence- and results-based performance.
“We are proud to see the efforts and achievements of the Energy Sector in Monitoring and Evaluation recognised through the Best Performing Sector Award 2026. This award is a result of teamwork, accountability, collaboration and dedication by the Ministry of Energy and its institutions,” Ms. Ishengoma said.
She explained that the achievement reflects the Ministry’s commitment to continuing to use Monitoring and Evaluation as an important tool for overseeing performance and the implementation of plans, programmes and projects, as well as supporting evidence- and results-based decision-making.
“We extend our appreciation to the leadership, staff and all stakeholders who contributed to this achievement. This award is not the end of the journey, but rather a catalyst for accelerating efforts, improving quality and accountability, and delivering impactful results in the Energy Sector for the benefit of citizens,” Ms. Ishengoma emphasised.
