Tanzania Officials Meet IOM Director-General Amy Pope



Tanzania’s Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, have held a meeting with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope.

Pope was accompanied by IOM Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, Frantz Celestin; IOM Chief of Mission in the United Republic of Tanzania, Ashraf Hassan; and IOM Director of Communications, Mohammedali Abunajela.

The Tanzanian delegation also included Zanzibar Commissioner of Immigration, Hassan Ali Hassan, and the representative of the Commissioner General of Immigration, Commissioner of the Legal Division, Novaita Mrosso.

Amy Pope is in Tanzania on an official working visit. On August 17, 2026, she met with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in Zanzibar.
