TBA Advisory Board Chair Says Magomeni Kota Housing Project to Be Completed by October
The Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA), Laurean Ndumbaro, has announced that the construction of two modern residential apartment buildings at Magomeni Kota in Dar es Salaam is expected to be completed by October this year, boosting the availability of housing for public servants and other eligible residents.
Ndumbaro made the remarks during an inspection tour by the TBA Advisory Board to assess the progress of various projects being implemented by the agency, including the government-funded Magomeni Kota housing project.
He said the Board was satisfied with the pace of construction, noting that one of the buildings is in the final finishing stage while work on the second building is progressing well.
According to Ndumbaro, the project is part of the Government's commitment and the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Election Manifesto to improve housing, particularly for public servants.
He added that although the apartments are primarily intended for public servants, eligible private sector employees who meet the required criteria and submit applications will also have an opportunity to live in the housing units.
Ndumbaro said the two apartment buildings are being constructed at a cost of Sh11.4 billion, with each building designed to accommodate 16 households, bringing the total number of beneficiary households to 32 upon completion.
Meanwhile, TBA Director of Property Management, Said Raja Bumdeme, said the 32-acre Magomeni Kota site was previously occupied by 644 families living in low-rise houses before the structures were demolished to pave the way for the modern housing development.
