The Minister for Minerals, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, has commenced an official working tour of Geita Region aimed at inspecting the implementation of development projects, promoting economic activities, and monitoring the execution of government directives intended to improve the livelihoods of citizens.

Hon. Mavunde, who also serves as the Patron of Development Activities in Geita Region, is expected to visit and inspect several strategic projects being implemented across the region's districts and local government authorities. During the tour, he will also engage with residents on development opportunities and the contribution of the mining sector to Tanzania's economic growth.

On the first day of the tour, Minister Mavunde inspected a major water supply project worth more than TZS 40 billion, which is expected to provide clean and safe water to over 185,000 residents. He said the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to invest heavily in water infrastructure to improve public health, social welfare, and productivity.

Speaking after inspecting the project, Hon. Mavunde emphasized that reliable access to water is a cornerstone of social and economic development. He urged contractors to ensure the project is completed on time and in accordance with the required quality standards to guarantee value for public money.

As part of efforts to promote the mining sector, Minister Mavunde also visited a youth-led mineral processing plant project, stressing that the Government will continue creating a conducive environment for young people to actively participate in mineral extraction and value addition.

He noted that investment in mineral processing and beneficiation industries will enhance the value of the country's mineral resources, create employment opportunities for youth, and increase the mining sector's contribution to national economic growth.

In addition, Minister Mavunde laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Rwantaba Bridge, a project expected to improve transport infrastructure, facilitate trade and movement of goods, connect production areas with markets, and stimulate economic development for the people of Geita Region.

Geita Regional Commissioner, Hon. Martin Shigela, said the implementation of development projects in the region is providing practical solutions to the challenges facing residents. He added that the regional administration is committed to ensuring all development projects are completed on schedule.
