The Managing Director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO), Mr. Lazaro Twange, has called upon TANESCO managers across the country to take stronger measures in combating the theft of power infrastructure, a challenge that has been reported in various regions under their supervision.

Mr. Twange made the remarks on June 24, 2026, in Dodoma while officially opening the Annual Meeting of TANESCO Managers and Zonal Directors, which aims to discuss various matters concerning the utility and the Distribution Directorate.

While commending the managers for their efforts in serving the public, he stressed the need for every manager to take personal responsibility in protecting the utility’s assets by intensifying efforts to eliminate incidents of power infrastructure theft.

“I commend you for the good work you are doing. We are often praised for providing quality services to the public. Now, increase your efforts to ensure that the utility’s assets are protected. Fight against the theft of electrical equipment, as such incidents tarnish the image of the organization,” Mr. Twange emphasized.

Speaking at the meeting, TANESCO Manyara Regional Manager, Eng. Regina Mvungi, said the gathering plays a significant role in evaluating performance and reviewing the implementation of the utility’s strategic plan. Meanwhile, TANESCO Ruvuma Regional Manager, Eng. Eliseus Mhelela, explained how they are prepared to implement the directives issued by the Managing Director in order to further improve services to the public.
