RC CHALAMILA: STANDARDS MARATHON AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO DELIVER PUBLIC EDUCATION



Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila has expressed his appreciation and commended the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) for organizing the Standards Marathon as part of the celebrations marking 50 years since the establishment of the institution, as well as continuing to raise public awareness on the importance of adhering to standards.

RC Chalamila said the marathon is an effective way of delivering education to the public in a simple, attractive and practical manner that touches the daily lives of citizens, especially those in the Dar es Salaam Region.

The Standards Marathon was held earlier today, May 23, 2026, at Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam as one of the events aimed at involving the community in the celebrations of TBS’ 50th anniversary.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
