The launch of a new Orxy fuel station in Karatu District, Arusha Region, has been described as an important step towards creating employment opportunities, improving access to fuel for transporters, and stimulating economic activities in an area regarded as one of Tanzania’s main tourism gateways.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony on May 29, 2026, District Commissioner Lameck Karanga said the construction of the fuel station, which will be operated by Halyaz Company, reflects the vision of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to create a conducive environment for local investors to conduct business.

He noted that Karatu serves as a major tourism gateway and that the new facility will enable transporters to access fuel more easily and reliably, given that Orxy products are trusted across Africa and around the world.

“On behalf of the district, I congratulate you on this investment. Beyond establishing a modern fuel station, you have also created an attractive environment through the beautiful garden in front of the station. This demonstrates that you have come to Karatu with positive intentions,” he said.

Karanga further praised the company’s commitment to environmental cleanliness.

“Orxy has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental cleanliness outside the fuel station. I encourage banks and other institutions to emulate this example. It enhances tourism and shows that Karatu District is clean and has a pleasant environment,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Director of Halyaz Company, which operates the Orxy Karatu fuel station, Ally Abdulrazak, said the project was driven by the belief that Karatu deserves quality energy services.

He explained that he partnered with Orxy because the company has consistently supplied clean and safe fuel suitable for different types of vehicles.

Abdulrazak said customers visiting the station will receive world-class services, as employees are highly skilled and all operations are conducted in accordance with international quality standards.

He added that Halyaz aims to sell more than 10,000 litres of fuel per day while also serving a growing number of customers through its lubricants business.

Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of Orxy Tanzania, the company’s Finance Manager, Greyson Francis, said the launch of the Orxy Karatu fuel station is part of the company’s broader vision to expand its services to more communities.

He noted that Orxy currently operates in 19 African countries and has already expanded its presence across all regions of Tanzania.
