DAS TEMEKE LAUNCHES TANESCO DISTRICT OFFICE IN MIKWAMBE





Commends TANESCO for ongoing improvements aimed at bringing services closer to the people.

📌Says the office will reduce the burden on residents travelling long distances to access services.

Temeke District Administrative Secretary, Mr. Kimeta Mpui, has officially launched the new KITANESCO District Office in Mikwambe as part of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO)’s strategy to continue improving and bringing various electricity services closer to wananchi.

Speaking on May 16, 2026 during the launch, he said the establishment of the office is intended to improve service delivery to wananchi following the increasing demand for electricity services.

He explained that the move reflects operational improvements aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing distance-related challenges for residents who previously had to travel to KITANESCO Kigamboni Regional Offices to access services.

He said TANESCO has made major changes in order to keep pace with the growing demand for electricity services from wananchi, and commended the utility for establishing the office while urging employees to continue strengthening the provision of quality services to the public.

“I would like to congratulate TANESCO leadership for establishing this office because it is a clear indication of operational improvements aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing inconveniences, and ensuring wananchi receive services on time,” he said.

Speaking during the event, Acting Customer Service Manager, Mr. Shamu Lameck, said TANESCO is fully prepared and continues to strengthen and bring its services closer to customers in order to make it easier for wananchi to access electricity services.

“This is a very important step and a sign that TANESCO is committed to improving electricity accessibility in Kigamboni together with service delivery itself. We are fully prepared to ensure wananchi and our customers receive services more closely and with greater quality,” he said.

On his part, TANESCO Kigamboni Regional Manager, Engineer Paschal Luhavi, said the establishment of the TANESCO District Office in Mikwambe will further bring services closer to residents within the district, especially in the wards of Kimbiji, Somangila, Pemba Mnazi, Kisarawe II, and nearby areas.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
