In an effort to promote the use of clean cooking energy through electricity in Tanzania, the Managing Director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Mr. Lazaro Twange, has donated more than 30 electric cooking stoves to teachers at Manyara Girls’ Secondary School as motivation for their dedication to work.
Speaking on behalf of the Manyara Regional Commissioner, Hon. Queen Sendiga, the Simanjiro District Commissioner, Hon. Fakii Lulandala, commended TANESCO’s Managing Director, Mr. Lazaro Twange, for the initiative, noting that the donation aims to encourage the adoption of clean cooking energy using electricity.
He stated that Mr. Twange is actively supporting the agenda of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which promotes the use of clean cooking energy, highlighting TANESCO’s ongoing efforts across the country.
He added that the stoves will serve as strong motivation for the teachers and help improve teaching performance, as they will spend less time cooking and more time focusing on students, ultimately contributing to better academic outcomes.
He further noted that, in addition to donating the stoves, Mr. Lazaro Twange played a significant role in the construction of the school while serving as the District Commissioner of Babati, where he closely supervised the project to ensure its successful completion.
“Mr. Lazaro Twange was instrumental in the construction of this school, and today he has donated modern, energy-efficient electric stoves to teachers. This will greatly motivate them, especially in adopting clean cooking energy,” he said.
On her part, TANESCO Manyara Regional Manager, Engineer Regina Mvungi, said that on behalf of the Managing Director, they have handed over 30 stoves to the school’s teachers as a gift from TANESCO.
She emphasized that the teachers are now expected to serve as ambassadors in promoting the use of clean electric cooking energy within their communities, including students and the general public.
“Through the Managing Director of TANESCO, Mr. Lazaro Twange, we have donated 30 electric cooking stoves to teachers so they can become ambassadors of clean electric cooking both at school and in their surrounding communities,” she said.
Meanwhile, the school’s headmistress, Ms. Gisela Msoffe, expressed gratitude to Mr. Twange for his outstanding supervision during the construction of the school while he was the Babati District Commissioner, as well as for ensuring that electricity services were fully installed in all school buildings.
She further thanked TANESCO for the donation of modern electric stoves, noting that they will help save time during cooking and allow teachers to dedicate more time to teaching students.
“I sincerely thank Mr. Lazaro Twange. All staff, especially teachers, have received modern electric stoves that will help us save time when cooking and give us more time to teach students,” she added.
