TMA HIGHLIGHTS OFFICIAL CHANNELS USED TO DISSEMINATE WEATHER INFORMATION
Zanzibar, January 12, 2026
The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has highlighted the official channels used to disseminate weather information in the country. This was stated by the Director of the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) – Zanzibar Office, Mr. Masoud Makame Faki, while speaking to the public through various media platforms with the aim of inviting them to visit the TMA pavilion at the 12th Zanzibar International Trade Fair (ZITF), currently taking place at Nyamanzi Grounds from December 29, 2025 to January 16, 2026.
“I urge the public to continue following weather information through official channels used by TMA, including accredited media outlets, blogs and the Authority’s official website (www.meteo.go.tz), as well as TMA’s social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp Channel and Facebook. All official accounts can be accessed directly from the homepage of the Authority’s website,” said Mr. Faki.
Mr. Faki added that citizens should refrain from spreading misleading information found on social media, as it may negatively affect national development plans. Instead, he emphasized the importance of relying on official weather information channels identified by the Authority.
Through the exhibition, TMA continues to provide education and clarification on various weather-related issues, including the ongoing heat stress being experienced in the islands. He explained that as the Earth continues its movement toward the southern solstice, the sun becomes more overhead, leading to increased temperatures. Due to the islands being surrounded by water, high atmospheric humidity has resulted, causing residents to experience the current heat stress.
