MINISTER NDEJEMBI OPENS THE 55TH TANESCO WORKERS’ GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING IN DODOMA




📌 Commends H.E. President Dr. Samia for improving workers’ welfare

📌 Emphasizes proper management of workers’ rights, public education, and improved electricity service delivery

The Minister for Energy, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, today, January 22, 2026, officially opened the 55th General Council Meeting of Workers of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), being held in Dodoma Region.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Minister Ndejembi thanked H.E. President Dr. Samia for improving the welfare and benefits of TANESCO employees. He emphasized the importance of strong management of workers’ rights, strengthening cooperation in the workplace, and continuing to provide public education on various issues related to electricity services.

“I recognize that you have gathered here to discuss in depth matters concerning employees. I urge you to speak openly on all issues and reach agreements that will continue to improve the performance of the organization and the welfare of workers,” said the Minister.

He also stressed the importance of continuously improving the delivery of reliable and high-quality electricity services to customers across the country.

Welcoming the Minister to the meeting, TANESCO Managing Director, Mr. Lazaro Twange, thanked him for accepting the invitation to officiate the session and assured him that the organization would continue to safeguard workers’ rights and ensure improved performance.

“I sincerely thank you for responding to our invitation to open this meeting. As Chairperson of this Council, I assure you that I will oversee the implementation of all resolutions reached here to enhance productivity and development of the organization, and to increase efficiency in serving the public,” said Twange.

The meeting has brought together TANESCO leaders, representatives from the Trade Union (TUICO), Zonal Directors, as well as workers’ representatives from subsidiary companies and various regional offices across the country.
