The Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Member of Parliament for Namtumbo Constituency, Dr. Juma Zuberi Homera, has continued to translate into action the vision of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, of motivating new public servants and improving their working environment, after handing over 222 mattresses to employees of the Namtumbo District Council—a move aimed at boosting morale and enhancing efficiency in service delivery to citizens.
The mattresses were distributed under a specific arrangement, where 202 were given to already employed staff, 13 set aside for staff expected to be employed, and 7 kept as reserve.
The handover ceremony took place on January 23, 2026, at the Namtumbo District Council Offices.
Speaking before government and party leaders, Dr. Homera said motivation for public servants is not an act of charity but a development strategy, emphasizing that new employment and staff welfare go hand in hand with the quality of services provided to citizens.
“When we create a friendly working environment, we build a productive nation,” he said.
He added that the initiative supports government efforts to strengthen the public service sector, particularly in implementing new employment and improving services within the first 100 days of President Samia’s leadership agenda.
Furthermore, he urged public servants to work hard, uphold integrity and patriotism, while calling on leaders to create an enabling environment, including access to farming land for their welfare.
On behalf of the citizens, the Chairperson of the Namtumbo District Council, Francis Pili, together with the Acting District Executive Director, Musa Mumina, commended Dr. Homera, saying the motivation is unprecedented and exemplary, and will enhance morale and accountability at work.
Public servants who received the support said the gesture has given them renewed motivation, pledging to provide quality services, maintain discipline, and work diligently for the benefit of the people of Namtumbo.
