KATAMBI: DO NOT BE AN OBSTACLE TO BUSINESS OPERATORS.

The Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Patrobas Katambi (MP), has urged officials of the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) to deliver results-oriented services that support Tanzanians in formalizing their businesses, while ensuring that the issuance of licenses does not become a barrier for both local and foreign investors.

He made the remarks during his visit to BRELA offices, emphasizing that any investor who meets legal requirements should be given accurate and timely guidance on the necessary procedures, instead of being subjected to unnecessary bureaucracy.

Katambi further stated that in matters related to company registration and business premises, BRELA should continue to provide public education so that information about its services reaches a wider segment of Tanzanians.

Additionally, he noted that the country’s current development direction places strong emphasis on youth empowerment; therefore, the industrial and trade sectors must serve as key pillars in addressing the challenge of unemployment.

He added that budgetary investments are increasingly being directed toward job creation, with the Ministry aiming to take the lead in creating more employment opportunities for young people through industries, trade, and the appropriate use of technology.

Moreover, Katambi directed BRELA to conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine the number of registered companies that are operational and those that are dormant, so that appropriate measures can be taken.

Speaking on behalf of the BRELA Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Intellectual Property and Innovation, Ms. Loy Mhando, stated that the agency will act on all the directives given by intensifying efforts in their implementation.
