More than 500 tourists gathered today, October 18, 2025, at the Tabora Wildlife Park (Tabora Zoo) to take part in the Wildlife Barbecue Festival, organized by the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) – Western Zone.
The festival, aimed at promoting domestic tourism and the sustainable and legal use of wildlife resources, attracted visitors from different regions across and outside the country. It was graced by government officials including the District Commissioners of Tabora and Uyui, local residents, and international guests.
Participants praised TAWA for its creativity in organizing the event, saying it offered them a chance to “taste the fruits of conservation” — a reflection of government efforts through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to ensure communities benefit legally and sustainably from wildlife resources.
Throughout the day, Tabora Zoo was filled with excitement — traditional music, joyful cheers, and the irresistible aroma of grilled game meat prepared by skilled chefs. Guests had the opportunity to sample various types of game meat while learning about the importance of sustainable wildlife conservation as part of domestic tourism and the nation’s natural heritage.
The festival continues to serve as an important platform for education, entertainment, and conservation awareness, inspiring communities to value and protect wildlife resources through responsible tourism.
