TANAPA CONGRATULATES SIMBU; PLEDGES TO CONTINUE PARTNERSHIP IN PROMOTING NATIONAL PARKS THROUGH ATHLETICS

The Conservation Commissioner of TANAPA, CPA Musa Nassoro Kuji, today, September 30, 2025, congratulated Sergeant Taji Alphonce Simbu, the 2025 World Champion in the 42km marathon. The congratulatory remarks were delivered at the Agency’s Headquarters in Arusha.


The Commissioner’s message was made before the TANAPA Management team and journalists present at the event, recognizing the outstanding victory of Sergeant Taji Simbu, who won a Gold Medal at the marathon competition held from September 13 to September 21, 2025, in Japan.


“We sincerely congratulate you, Simbu, for your efforts in carrying our National Flag with honor. Your victory is not only a personal achievement but also a great recognition in promoting Tanzania,” said Commissioner Kuji.


Commissioner Kuji further expressed TANAPA’s readiness to continue supporting various athletes to advance the development of the sports sector, emphasizing TANAPA’s commitment to promoting sports tourism within the National Parks.


For his part, Alphonce Simbu expressed his delight at the warm reception he received from TANAPA upon his arrival in Arusha on September 29, 2025.

“Commissioner, from the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank you personally, the TANAPA Management, officers, and rangers for honoring me with such an extraordinary welcome in Arusha.


“I am also grateful for the privilege of being received in the very vehicle used by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, during the filming of ‘Tanzania The Royal Tour’. I promise to work with you in flying the Tanzanian flag high and promoting our tourist attractions in the National Parks through the marathon competitions I will participate in,” Simbu added.


Speaking at the event, the President of the Tanzania Athletics Federation (RT), Roghath Akhwari, commended TANAPA for its continuous efforts in conserving natural resources and encouraging tourists to visit attractions within the National Parks.


“I truly commend TANAPA for preserving our natural resources and promoting tourism. I urge that we continue to enhance and promote the growth of sports tourism,” said Akhwari.


The event to honor Simbu included a gift package comprising a TZS 10 million cheque, a framed picture of a cheetah (the fastest animal in the world), a small travel bag, and T-shirts branded with the TANAPA logo, as a token of appreciation for his global marathon victory.


In addition, the Tanzania Athletics Federation, through its President, presented a Certificate of Honor to the Conservation Commissioner, recognizing TANAPA’s contribution in sponsoring athletes since 2016 to date.
