Hungary Supports $55 Million Water Project in Biharamulo, Opens Embassy Office in Dar es Salaam
The Government of Hungary has announced its partnership with Tanzania to implement a major water supply project from Lake Victoria in Biharamulo District, valued at USD 55 million, set to benefit more than 200,000 residents. This project aims to complement the efforts of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in improving the water sector and ensuring broader access to clean and safe water.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam on September 29, 2025, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, commended the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Hon. Péter Szijjártó, who is in Tanzania for a one-day working visit, for strengthening the development cooperation.
Furthermore, Minister Kombo expressed his gratitude to the Government of Hungary for its decision to open an Embassy Office in Dar es Salaam, located in Masaki, describing it as a great honor for Tanzania and a symbol of the growing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He added that the Embassy Office will play a key role in stimulating economic growth through trade, investment, and tourism, while also enhancing people-to-people relations and providing diplomatic and consular services.
