The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, has invited the private sector to invest in protected areas across the country, including the Swagaswaga Game Reserve, which serves as a tourism hub in Dodoma City.

Dr. Abbasi made the remarks on September 26, 2025, during his official visit to the Swagaswaga Game Reserve, which spans across the Dodoma and Singida regions.

“We have set aside investment areas within the reserves, so we welcome the private sector to collaborate with us,” said Dr. Abbasi.

He also commended the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) for developing initial infrastructure in the Swagaswaga Game Reserve, including the construction of tourist hostels, offices, staff houses, and access roads. He further emphasized that the Ministry will continue allocating funds to enhance tourism infrastructure in protected areas.

Earlier, while welcoming Dr. Abbasi, the Acting Conservation Commissioner of TAWA, Mlage Yussuf Kabange, said the Authority is continuing with various strategies to promote and improve infrastructure in the Swagaswaga Game Reserve to ensure easier accessibility and attract more visitors.

The Swagaswaga Game Reserve is located about 140 kilometers from Dodoma Region and is home to diverse attractions, including wildlife such as elephants, kudu, giraffes, and various bird species.

The reserve also features ancient rock art (caves with historical markings) from the Sandawe community.
