The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on media outlets to collaborate with the government in educating the public about the history of the nation’s heroes.


Dr. Biteko made this call on July 24, 2025, at the Heroes Monument Grounds in the Government City, Mtumba, Dodoma, after inspecting preparations for the Heroes Day Commemoration.


“I call upon all citizens to participate fully in this significant event. This is our day, a day to remember our fellow Tanzanians who stood for the Nation. Likewise, I urge you, journalists, together with your media houses and social media platforms, to work with the government in educating the public about the history of our heroes, the value of their contributions, and the reasons we continue to honor them each year,” said Dr. Biteko.


He spoke about the preparations for Heroes Day, noting that they are progressing well and that the Guest of Honor at the event will be the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. He emphasized that this special day is dedicated to remembering, honoring, and paying tribute to our heroes who sacrificed their lives, strength, and efforts for the freedom, peace, and development of the Nation.


He further explained that as part of these honors, at 6:00 p.m. on July 24, 2025, the eve of the commemoration, the Heroes Memorial Flame will be lit by the Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Hon. Rosemary Senyamule, on behalf of the President, marking the beginning of the remembrance period for our heroes.


He added that on the commemoration day, July 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m., there will be an official guard of honor parade by the Defense and Security Forces. Additionally, at 6:00 p.m. on the same day, the Heroes Memorial Flame will be officially extinguished to signify the conclusion of the 2025 Heroes Day remembrance activities.


The National Heroes Day Commemoration is held annually on July 25 to honor heroes who lost their lives on the battlefield, those who retired after serving the Nation faithfully, and those who sustained injuries while defending our country.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
