TRANSPORT MINISTRY PERMANENT SECRETARY PRAISES TAA FOR IMPROVING AIRPORT SERVICES

DODOMA, Tanzania —

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Professor Godius Kahyarara, has commended the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) for its ongoing efforts to improve the management, infrastructure and services of airports across the country.

Professor Kahyarara said the improvements being undertaken by TAA are playing a significant role in stimulating economic activities, particularly in the agricultural sector.

He made the remarks during a visit to the TAA exhibition booth at the 2026 Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma, where he reviewed various services provided by the authority as well as development projects being implemented at airports across Tanzania.

During the visit, Professor Kahyarara praised TAA for its efforts to manage, develop and modernise airport infrastructure and services, stressing the need for continued investment in the aviation sector to expand economic opportunities for Tanzanians.

“The government continues to invest heavily in improving airports in various parts of the country. The goal is to ensure that this infrastructure becomes a catalyst for economic activities and enhances productivity across different sectors, particularly agriculture,” Professor Kahyarara said.

He noted that air transport plays a crucial role in facilitating the fast and efficient movement of agricultural produce, especially commodities that need to reach distant markets within a short period.

According to Professor Kahyarara, improved air transport infrastructure can help farmers and traders access wider markets both domestically and internationally, while contributing to increased economic opportunities and productivity.

TAA continues to implement various airport development projects across Tanzania as part of efforts to strengthen aviation infrastructure and improve the quality and efficiency of air transport services.
