PRESIDENT SAMIA RECOGNIZES THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND ITS INSTITUTIONS TO THE SUCCESS OF THE CLEAN COOKING ENERGY DIALOGUE



KIZIMKAZI, ZANZIBAR

The Ministry of Energy and its institutions have been awarded a recognition award for their contribution to the successful organization of the Clean Cooking Energy Dialogue, held in Kizimkazi, South Unguja Region, Zanzibar, on August 11, 2026.

The award was presented on the night of August 11, 2026, by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and was received on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and its institutions by the Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba.

The Dialogue aimed to discuss ways to accelerate access to and the use of clean cooking energy that is sustainable, safe, and affordable for citizens and institutions. It brought together various stakeholders from the Government, private sector, development partners, financial institutions, technology experts, researchers, and civil society organizations.

The Dialogue was organized by the Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF), in collaboration with various stakeholders, as part of efforts to promote and encourage collective action towards advancing the use of clean cooking energy in Tanzania.

During the Dialogue, the Government continued to emphasize the importance of accelerating access to and the use of clean cooking energy by strengthening collaboration among the Government, private sector, development partners, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.

The award serves as recognition of the contribution and cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and its institutions in making the Dialogue a success, with the aim of advancing discussions and promoting concrete actions towards increasing the use of clean cooking energy in Tanzania.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
