DEPUTY MINISTER SALOME PRAISES PUBLIC EDUCATION AT KIZIMKAZI EXHIBITION
Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba (MP), has visited the exhibition booths of the Ministry of Energy and its institutions at the Kizimkazi Festival Exhibition, currently taking place in Kizimkazi, South Unguja Region, Zanzibar.
While visiting the booths, Hon. Salome interacted with experts and observed how they are educating the public about various activities being implemented by the Government in the energy sector.
Hon. Salome commended officials from the Ministry and its institutions for using the exhibition as an opportunity to educate the public about the Government’s efforts, under the leadership of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to strengthen the energy sector and promote economic and social development.
She said the Government continues to implement various strategic projects in the energy sector, some of which have already been completed, including the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 2,115 megawatts, and the Kishapu Solar Power Project, whose first phase has been completed and is generating 50 megawatts.
She added that other projects are still under implementation, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), as well as electricity, natural gas and clean cooking energy projects.
Regarding clean cooking energy, she said the Government continues to educate the public to encourage the adoption and use of clean cooking energy, while also expanding the distribution of clean cooking technologies and infrastructure to institutions and households.
At the exhibition, she urged experts to continue providing public education so that citizens can understand the progress being made by the Government in the energy sector, the benefits of ongoing projects, as well as the opportunities available within the sector.
The Ministry of Energy and its institutions are participating in the Kizimkazi Festival Exhibition, which is being held in Kizimkazi, South Unguja Region, Zanzibar, from August 12 to 14, 2026.
