WMA OFFICIALS VISIT ENTREPRENEURS AT SABASABA, PROVIDE EDUCATION ON LEGAL METROLOGY
DAR ES SALAAM –
On the fifth day of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba), held on July 2, 2026, officials from the Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) visited various entrepreneurs and provided them with education on legal metrology and measurement standards.
Led by the WMA Ilala Regional Metrology Manager, Mr. Muhono Nashon, the team educated small-scale entrepreneurs on the proper labeling of product packaging to ensure compliance with international market standards, as well as other important measurement-related requirements.
Speaking about the initiative, WMA Communications Manager, Ms. Veronica Simba, said it is one of the agency's strategies to reach different stakeholders participating in the trade fair.
She added that the initiative also implements the directive of the Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Judith Kapinga, who, during her visit to the Ministry's pavilion and its institutions, instructed officials to proactively reach out to stakeholders and provide services directly, rather than waiting for them to visit the WMA exhibition booth.
The initiative was welcomed by the entrepreneurs who received the services, saying it enabled them to gain valuable knowledge on legal metrology without having to leave their exhibition stands to seek assistance at the WMA booth.
Providing education on legal metrology and measurement standards to stakeholders is part of WMA's routine responsibilities and is carried out on a continuous basis.
