VICE PRESIDENT NCHIMBI VISITS TANESCO EXHIBITION BOOTH




The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has visited the exhibition booth of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) during the climax of the World Environment Day celebrations taking place in Dodoma City.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Nchimbi visited the booth on June 5, 2026, where he was briefed on various projects being implemented by TANESCO, including the promotion of clean cooking energy through electricity and environmental conservation efforts at power generation sources.

While providing explanations to the Vice President, the Head of the Environment Unit at the Ministry of Energy, Emmilian Nyanda, stated that TANESCO has been making significant efforts to educate the public on the importance of clean cooking energy through electricity, with the aim of ensuring that every citizen participates in environmental conservation initiatives.

The 2026 Environment Day exhibitions were held under the theme: “Vision 2050: Let Us Take Responsibility for Greening Tanzania.”

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.   The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, joined national leaders and members of the public in a Holy Mass commemorating the fifth anniversary of the passing of the Fifth Phase President of Tanzania, the late Dr. John Pombe Magufuli. The memorial service is being held today, March 17, 2026, in Chato, Geita Region. The Mass is led by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Rulenge–Ngara, His Lordship Severine Niwemugizi.
