TANESCO URGED TO EXPAND ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS – MINISTER RIDHIWANI

The Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has called on the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) to increase the number of charging stations for electric-powered transport vehicles in order to expand access to the service, which has been recognized as a key driver of clean energy transformation.

Minister Ridhiwani made the remarks on June 17, 2026, while visiting the TANESCO exhibition booth at the Public Service Week Exhibitions currently taking place at the Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma Region.

He commended TANESCO for its continued efforts in promoting the use of clean energy for both cooking and transportation.

“TANESCO is doing a commendable job, and I congratulate the organization for driving the transition to electric-powered transportation. I encourage you to increase the number of charging stations to broaden the availability of this important service,” Minister Ridhiwani emphasized.

Speaking at the event, TANESCO Marketing Manager Mr. Fredrick Kalinga said the utility is participating in the exhibitions to educate the public about the services and products offered by the company. These include updates on electricity generation, transmission and distribution projects, significant improvements in digital customer service systems, and campaigns promoting the use of clean electricity for cooking and transportation, including electric cars, three-wheelers, carts, and motorcycles.

The 2026 Public Service Week Exhibitions, held under the theme “Promoting Inclusive Accountability for Sustainable Service Delivery,” officially commenced on June 16, 2026, and are expected to conclude on June 23, 2026.
