SAMIA'S RUSSIA VISIT OPENS UP NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES, SAYS MINISTER KOMBO

Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has said that the visit of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to Russia has continued to demonstrate Tanzania’s position in the arena of international diplomacy through politics, economics, and trade.

Speaking to journalists on June 7, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Kombo said the visit has made a significant contribution to strengthening Tanzania’s influence on the global stage while opening up new opportunities for economic, political, and commercial cooperation between Tanzania and various countries around the world.

He said the visit has generated what he described as a positive shift in international politics, noting that this is due to Russia’s prominent role in international relations and its cooperation with many countries whose combined population is estimated at more than six billion people.

Ambassador Kombo added that President Samia’s participation in major international forums continues to promote Tanzania as a nation with an important contribution to global discussions on politics, economics, and trade.

He further noted that one of the achievements realized during the visit is the growing use of the Kiswahili language in international forums, a development he said enhances Tanzania’s status and strengthens its cultural influence worldwide.

He explained that the use of Kiswahili at the highest levels of international leadership is an important aspect of cultural diplomacy that helps promote Tanzania and Africa as a whole on the global stage.

Furthermore, he said the Government will continue working with various stakeholders to ensure that Kiswahili continues to grow and expand internationally, while Tanzania remains at the forefront of preserving and promoting the language as part of the nation’s identity and heritage.
