President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, is today concluding her official visit to Russia by participating in the Tanzania–Russia Business Forum alongside the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

During the forum, President Samia is expected to promote Tanzania as an attractive destination for investment and trade opportunities across various sectors.

The President’s visit has recorded significant achievements, particularly securing assurances of closer cooperation between Tanzania and Russia in various fields, including education, human resource development, and technology advancement.

The visit to the technologically advanced nation, known for its strengths in industrial production, processing, and agricultural development, comes at a time when Tanzania is preparing to implement its National Development Vision 2050, which aims to transform the country into a one-trillion-dollar economy annually.

Meanwhile, the government has stated that Tanzania’s economy grew by an average of 5.9 percent in 2025, compared to 5.5 percent in 2024. The remarks were made by the Minister of Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, while presenting the Review of the Implementation of the 2025/2026 Budget and the Revenue and Expenditure Estimates for the 2026/2027 Financial Year in Parliament in Dodoma recently.

Ambassador Omar said the growth was driven by increased lending to the private sector, improvements in transport and logistics infrastructure, and stronger performance in agricultural activities.

He added that other contributing factors included increased mineral production, public and private construction activities, and the implementation of strategic projects, particularly in the energy, transport, and social services sectors.
