NATIONAL IRRIGATION COMMISSION BRINGS TOGETHER STAKEHOLDERS TO STRENGTHEN IRRIGATION PROJECT MANAGEMENT ACROSS THE COUNTRY

The National Irrigation Commission has convened its Management Team, Regional Engineers, Contractors, and Consulting Engineers to discuss ways of improving the management of irrigation projects in order to achieve better results and ensure timely implementation.
The working session brought together key leaders, including the Director General of the National Irrigation Commission, Mr. Raymond Mdolwa, and other officials from across the country to deliberate on a new framework for managing irrigation projects more effectively and efficiently.
During the meeting, participants held extensive discussions on various issues, including the progress of ongoing projects and strategies to ensure their timely completion.
Emphasis was also placed on ensuring that projects are completed to the required standards while adhering to established procedures and fostering adequate collaboration among stakeholders, particularly consulting engineers responsible for supervising, safeguarding, and protecting public assets.
Speaking during the session, the Acting Director of Infrastructure Development at the National Irrigation Commission, Leopold Runji, underscored the importance of preparing accurate reports and working collaboratively.
“We must continue working closely together to achieve the Government’s objectives in the irrigation sector,” said Acting Director Runji.
The consulting engineers who attended the meeting commended the Government, through the Commission, for entrusting them with the responsibility of supervising irrigation projects. They also emphasized the importance of continued collaboration, experience-sharing, and improving efficiency in project implementation.
