DRC Independence Festival to Be Held in Dar es Salaam on June 30

The Congolese Community in Tanzania is set to celebrate the 66th Independence Anniversary of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through a major festival scheduled to take place on June 30, 2026, at Montana Grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam today, the Chairperson of the Congolese Community in Tanzania, Fariara Lengose, said the celebrations are intended to honor the history of the DRC while strengthening unity and friendship between the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania.

Lengose said the festival will feature entertainment from both Congolese and Tanzanian artists and is expected to attract several distinguished guests, including musicians Christian Bella and Nyoshi El Saadat, as well as other leaders and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, King Dodo said Tanzania's music industry has grown significantly, noting that in the past they relied solely on artists from the DRC to provide entertainment during such events.

"In the past, we used to invite artists from the DRC only, but today Tanzanian musicians have demonstrated remarkable talent and deliver world-class entertainment. We are proud of the excellent work they are doing," King Dodo said.

The festival is expected to bring together hundreds of Tanzanian residents and Congolese nationals living in the country for a day of entertainment, cultural celebration, and strengthened social ties between the two nations.
