The Minister for Energy, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, has invited Members of Parliament to visit the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which generates a total of 2,115 megawatts of electricity, through a special virtual reality experience.

Hon. Ndejembi made the remarks on April 20, 2026, while inspecting exhibition booths during the Energy Week event taking place at the Parliament grounds in Dodoma. The exhibition aims to showcase various activities carried out by institutions under the Ministry of Energy.

“Through these exhibitions, Members of Parliament will have the opportunity to witness the various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Energy through its institutions. Even those who have never physically visited the Julius Nyerere Dam will be able to experience it through virtual reality technology and see the significant efforts being made to generate electricity in the country,” explained Hon. Ndejembi.

He also informed MPs that TANESCO experts from different regions are available to receive and address complaints and challenges facing citizens in their constituencies, with the goal of resolving them promptly.

In addition, Hon. Ndejembi highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure citizens access electricity, with a focus on promoting the use of clean cooking energy. He noted that the exhibition features energy-efficient electric cooking stoves capable of preparing meals effectively while using minimal power.

“At this exhibition, people will witness the ongoing efforts to promote clean cooking energy. Food is being prepared using clean energy, and you will also see modern electric stoves that consume less power while delivering high efficiency,” he emphasized.

The Energy Week exhibition is scheduled to run for four days, while the Ministry of Energy’s budget is expected to be presented in Parliament on April 22, 2026.
