THE DISCOVERY OF NGORONGORO’S WONDERS UNFOLDS
Swahili wisdom says, “The world is a house of wonders.” Ngorongoro continues to live up to this saying, as if a special tool for uncovering its marvels has just been unearthed. This comes at a time when a new tourism season begins, marked by eight tour guides qualifying for the 2026 Safari Field Challenge finals set to take place in Ngorongoro.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority is sponsoring the competition, where the participating tour guides were selected through a rigorous screening process, leaving eight finalists. During the challenge, they will navigate through breathtaking attractions—true wonders of nature—while showcasing their expertise in knowledge, creativity, resilience, intelligence, and their ability to overcome challenges during safari expeditions.
Speaking on behalf of the Conservation Commissioner, Senior Assistant Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing Services, Mariam Kobelo, stated that the competition will serve as a platform to showcase to the world that Ngorongoro is more than just a crater. It is a unique destination where nature, culture, heritage, wildlife, and the first breath of the great wildebeest migration converge in one place.
“Tour guides are our best ambassadors in tourism services. Through the Safari Field Challenge, they will gain the opportunity to better understand and share the wonders of Ngorongoro,” she said.
Good news for the world about Ngorongoro also lies in its growing recognition as a “Garden of Eden,” due to its rich history linked to the origins of humankind and the early life that once dominated the earth.
The Safari Field Challenge has been organized by the Tanzania Tour Guides Forum (TTGF) in collaboration with Azam Media and other tourism stakeholders.
