📌 Donates various supplies to three centers in Dar es Salaam

As part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) on March 19, 2026, visited three centers for children with special needs in Dar es Salaam, where it provided various donations aimed at bringing comfort and hope.

Speaking during the visit on behalf of the Managing Director, TANESCO’s Acting Director of Communications and Customer Service, Ms. Irene Gowelle, said the purpose of the visit was to actively engage with the community by supporting vulnerable groups, especially children in need.

She explained that the support was not only intended to meet basic needs, but also to instill confidence, hope, and courage among the children so they can continue believing in their dreams despite the challenges they face.

“Today, TANESCO has shared with these children with special needs by providing various forms of assistance as part of giving back to the community and strengthening our social responsibility,” said Ms. Irene.

She further emphasized that TANESCO will continue working closely with surrounding communities as part of its contribution to building a united, compassionate, and prosperous society.

On her part, the founder of Umra Orphanage Center, Ms. Rahma Juma, commended TANESCO for the initiative, noting that the support came at the right time and brought great comfort to both the children and their caregivers.

She added that TANESCO’s visit has brought joy and renewed motivation to the children, while also highlighting that such centers continue to face various challenges that require support from different stakeholders.

“This act by TANESCO is exemplary. The support has come at the right time and will greatly assist us in caring for the children at this center,” said Ms. Rahma.

“I would like to thank TANESCO for visiting us. We are truly grateful for the donations they have brought, especially during this festive season. These items are essential for our daily needs,” said Ms. Nuru Mwegoha.

She also called on institutions, companies, and individuals to step forward and support groups with special needs to ensure they receive quality care and live hopeful lives.

The centers visited during the tour included Umra Orphanage Center in Magomeni, CHAKUWAMA Orphanage Center in Sinza Mori, and New Hope for Girls Organization in Kimara.
