RC Chalamila Gives One Week for Victims of Fraud and Property Grabbing in Dar es Salaam to Submit Complaints

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has granted a one-week deadline starting March 2, 2026, for all residents who have been victims of fraud or property grabbing, including land disputes, to submit their complaints to his office. He stated that he intends to conduct a special follow-up tour beginning March 9, 2026, to address and resolve the reported conflicts.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, RC Chalamila said the Regional Government has identified a significant increase in cases of fraud and land grabbing, causing distress and suffering among various groups, including widows and lawful heirs.

His remarks followed a recent visit to Kinondoni District, where he discovered widespread fraudulent activities. Some individuals have reportedly been renting properties and later illegally claiming ownership or engaging in fraudulent schemes.

The Regional Commissioner further revealed that the government has uncovered fraudulent practices in certain car showrooms, where customers pay for vehicles but are later deceived with claims that the cars are still at the port.

Additionally, he highlighted the issue of exploitative loan schemes that burden citizens with harsh conditions, emphasizing that strict measures will be taken against those responsible.

In a related move, RC Chalamila issued a stern warning to groups involved in fraud and property grabbing, including land disputes, to surrender within one week starting March 2, 2026, and return the unlawfully acquired properties to their rightful owners. Failure to do so, he warned, will result in serious legal action by the government.

He also commended the Judiciary and the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (TAKUKURU) for their efforts in handling such cases. At the same time, he cautioned some estate administrators who allegedly sell heirs’ properties under the pretext of supporting or educating the deceased’s children, noting that such actions deny rightful heirs their fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, RC Chalamila also addressed the upcoming visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to the region on March 3, 2026. The President is expected to inaugurate fuel storage tanks in Kigamboni District. He urged residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome and support the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
