The Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Dr. James Mwainyekule, has assured Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) of continued cooperation.

Dr. Mwainyekule gave the assurance today, March 4, 2026, while participating in a high-level meeting of OMCs convened by the Minister for Energy, Deogratias Ndejembi, to discuss government strategies aimed at strengthening fuel supply, particularly amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.

He said EWURA will provide adequate support to the companies to ensure their operations run smoothly, while emphasizing that anyone who violates established regulations will face legal action in accordance with the law.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam, Minister Ndejembi stated that the government is well prepared to ensure sufficient fuel availability across the country.

“I would like to assure you that the Government has taken appropriate measures to ensure that challenges arising from the Iran–United States conflict do not disrupt fuel supply, and we will work closely with you to address any issues,” he said.

“The Government is alert, well prepared, and has done everything possible to guarantee reliable fuel supply. We will provide you with maximum cooperation. I urge everyone to comply with the country’s laws,” he added.

He also called on stakeholders to continue cooperating at all times to ensure Tanzanians receive uninterrupted fuel services.
