DESTINATION NGORONGORO DEMONSTRATES THAT HUMANS WERE NOT APES

Participants attending the Annual Public Education Stakeholders Conference organized by the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation have been enlightened on the wonders of Ngorongoro Conservation Area and provided with factual insights about ancient human remains found within the conservation area.

While presenting on Ngorongoro, Assistant Tourism Officer Mr. Hillary Remen explained that Ngorongoro is a unique destination with remarkable attractions and provides undeniable evidence of early humans who walked upright on two legs, discovered within the area.

In addition to its rich human history, Ngorongoro boasts numerous natural wonders and attractions, including the Ngorongoro Crater (often referred to as the “Garden of Eden”), the Laetoli Footprints which serve as evidence of early human bipedalism, and the Olduvai Gorge, known for its significant role in the study of human origins and ancient animal fossils. The area also features living cultural heritage, wildebeest calving grounds in Ndutu, forests, waterfalls, and three distinctive craters.

The history of early human bipedal movement is clearly documented at the Ngorongoro Geopark Museum. This history shows that although humans evolved over time in response to environmental changes, they have always remained human.

The stakeholders’ conference is being held in Arusha for one week and is expected to be officially opened by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mwigulu Nchemba. Ngorongoro is among the participants in the conference.
