The Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba, has handed over transportation equipment to TANESCO in Shinyanga Region with the aim of strengthening service delivery and addressing citizens’ challenges more efficiently.

Speaking on March 27, 2026, during the handover ceremony held in Kahama Municipality, Shinyanga Region, Hon. Salome said the move reflects the vision of the President, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensure citizens have access to reliable electricity services.

She noted that the equipment will enhance operational efficiency for TANESCO staff in Shinyanga, enabling them to respond to customer needs in a timely manner.

“These transport facilities will bring significant improvements in reaching customers quickly and serving them efficiently. I urge you to use them to resolve citizens’ challenges on time,” said Salome.

Hon. Salome also called on residents of Kahama Municipality to embrace clean cooking energy, emphasizing that electricity is affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly.

“I urge women in Kahama to take advantage of clean cooking energy using electricity. TANESCO has brought electric stoves here—they make cooking easier and faster,” she added.

Furthermore, she stated that the Government, through TANESCO, is continuing to improve electricity access in Kahama Municipality in response to the town’s rapid growth. So far, over TZS 600 million has been allocated for the construction of a new power line to serve residents.

On his part, the Acting TANESCO Regional Manager for Shinyanga, Engineer Benson Mbigili, confirmed receipt of the equipment, which includes four vehicles, one Bajaj (three-wheeler), and four motorcycles.

He commended the Government through TANESCO for providing the equipment, noting that it will significantly improve service delivery to the public.

“These vehicles will help us reach new customers, especially in hard-to-access areas that were previously challenging. We assure citizens of continued reliable and quality services at all times,” he said.

He added that TANESCO Shinyanga is intensifying efforts to promote the use of clean cooking energy using electricity, so that more citizens can understand its benefits and adopt it in their daily lives.
