AFTER SADC RECOGNIZES TANZANIA AS A LEADER IN CLEAN COOKING ENERGY; COMMISSIONER LUOGA URGES PUBLIC SERVANTS TO PROMOTE ITS USE





The Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Innocent Luoga, has called on staff of the Ministry of Energy to continue promoting the use of clean cooking energy in the country in order to advance the agenda championed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He noted that the clean cooking energy agenda has already begun to show positive results, leading to Tanzania being recognized in various international platforms, including within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Engineer Luoga made these remarks on March 18, 2026, in Dodoma while officiating the Third Session of the Second Workers’ Council Meeting of the Ministry of Energy, on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry.

“During the recent SADC meeting in which Tanzania participated, various speeches—including that of the guest of honor, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa—recognized and commended Tanzania for its progress in clean cooking energy. Furthermore, the final resolutions prepared by the SADC Secretariat called upon all member states to support Tanzania’s efforts,” said Commissioner Luoga.

Following this recognition, he commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts in advancing the clean cooking energy agenda. He also praised Ministry of Energy staff for their role in achieving these milestones, which aim to improve public health and reduce environmental degradation.
