ZANZIBAR FORESTRY DEPARTMENT VISITS TFS DODOMA TO LEARN MODERN BEEKEEPING SYSTEM
Dodoma, February 11, 2026.
Experts from the Zanzibar Forestry Department have arrived at the Headquarters of the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) in Dodoma for a five-day training visit in Manyoni District, Singida Region, aimed at learning modern beekeeping systems implemented by the agency.
The delegation, led by the Director of the Zanzibar Forestry Department, Said Juma Ali, includes five senior officials and will be in the country from February 11 to 15, 2026.
The visit is intended to strengthen technical knowledge and practical experience for Zanzibar officials, particularly in sustainable beekeeping, the establishment of Bee Reserves, and the development of Apitourism.
Speaking upon arrival, Said said the Zanzibar Forestry Department plans to introduce apitourism activities, establish a beekeeping demonstration farm, and create designated bee reserves, hence the importance of learning from TFS.
“Our visit aims to enhance knowledge and professionalism in beekeeping, a step that will contribute to increasing community income and strengthening biodiversity conservation,” he said.
During the visit, the delegation is expected to observe the operations of the TFS Manyoni beekeeping demonstration farm, modern honey production systems, and the management of designated bee areas that contribute to forest conservation and the protection of natural resources.
On his part, the Senior Assistant Commissioner for Conservation and TFS Beekeeping Resources Manager, Hussein Msuya, said TFS will continue providing education and collaborating with various institutions to strengthen beekeeping activities and the development of bee resources in the country.
He added that the collaboration is part of national efforts to make the beekeeping sector a source of employment, income, and an important tool in addressing the impacts of climate change.
