Tanzania Embassy in Comoros Asked to Coordinate the Establishment of a Swahili Journalists’ Association
The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Comoros, Saidi Yakubu, has met with veteran Comorian journalist Rachidi Ali, who paid a courtesy call to submit a request from journalists in the country seeking to establish a Union of Swahili Journalists and Broadcasters.
Mr. Rachidi informed Ambassador Yakubu that there are many journalists in the Comoros who have a strong passion for the Swahili language and are inspired by the Embassy’s efforts to promote the language in the country. He explained that they are therefore requesting coordination support to establish their association, which would also help attract more people to learn Swahili.
In response, Ambassador Yakubu commended Comorian journalists for their professionalism, competence, and love for the Swahili language, noting that the Embassy has consistently engaged and collaborated with them. He assured them that the request would be given due consideration and worked on in collaboration with the relevant Comorian authorities, in the interest of promoting and advancing the Swahili language.
