Tanzania is set to host the Africa Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization Conference, which will be held in Dar es Salaam from February 3 to 6, 2026, alongside the launch of the Second Phase of the National Agricultural Mechanization Strategy. The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, is expected to officiate the event.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, said the conference is being organized through a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture of Tanzania and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He noted that the conference will provide a platform for experience sharing, strengthening cooperation, and accelerating the adoption of agricultural mechanization tools to support sustainable agricultural transformation in Tanzania and across Africa.

RC Chalamila added that during the conference, Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba is expected to officially launch the Second Phase of the National Agricultural Mechanization Strategy, which will serve as a key guideline for increasing agricultural productivity through the use of modern farming technologies. The conference is expected to bring together Ministers of Agriculture from various African countries, along with other agricultural stakeholders, as part of the efforts by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to strengthen the agricultural sector for the broader public interest.

On his part, the FAO Resident Representative, Charles Tulai, said the conference is crucial in enabling African countries to address various challenges, including climate change and rapid population growth. He noted that Tanzania has been identified as a suitable host for the conference, emphasizing that youth have been recognized as a vital workforce in the agricultural sector.
