📌 Commends TANESCO for continuing to improve and expand its services to citizens

The Mayor of Singida Municipal Council, Hon. Geofrey Mdama, has said that electricity energy has played a significant role in accelerating development and boosting economic growth in Singida Region due to its importance in strengthening economic opportunities, the industrial sector, and investment.

The Mayor made the remarks on behalf of the Singida District Commissioner on February 12, 2026, while officiating the opening of a working session between the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) and Local Government chairpersons, Ward Executive Officers, and Councillors of Singida Municipal Council.

He commended TANESCO for recognizing the contribution of these leaders, who play a vital role in educating citizens about the work carried out by the utility and the importance of electricity energy in various social and economic sectors.

“I sincerely commend TANESCO for acknowledging the importance and contribution of these leaders, as they live close to the people. Through them, it becomes easier to reach the community. We also extend our gratitude to Her Excellency the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for allocating funds for the implementation of electricity projects that have greatly contributed to the country’s development,” said Hon. Mdama.

On his part, the Acting TANESCO Regional Manager for Singida, Eng. Boniface Shitindi, said the session aimed at providing education and enhancing leaders’ understanding of TANESCO’s activities so that they can effectively pass on the knowledge to citizens through their meetings.

Some Local Government chairpersons, Ward Executive Officers, and Councillors expressed satisfaction with the session, especially after receiving education on electricity connection costs, the use of smart meters, the importance of protecting electricity infrastructure, and the use of clean cooking energy through electricity, which is more affordable.

The session is part of TANESCO’s ongoing efforts to ensure that citizens receive important information about the progress of electricity projects, ongoing improvements, and education on the proper use of electricity.
