OVER 500 BUSINESS PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM PPRA TRAINING.
More than 500 business people in Dar es Salaam have benefited from a special public procurement training organized by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), as part of the Government’s efforts to empower local entrepreneurs to actively participate in public tenders and projects.
The training aimed at building the capacity of business people by enhancing their understanding of the Public Procurement Act of 2023, which provides special preferences to local bidders in order to stimulate national economic growth and strengthen the participation of the domestic private sector.
Speaking during the opening of the training, the Director General of PPRA, Dennis Simba, said that under the Act, all Government projects valued at up to 50 billion Tanzanian shillings are required to be implemented by local contractors. He encouraged business people to seize this opportunity by adhering to the established laws, procedures, and standards.
On his part, the Acting PPRA Coastal Zone Manager, Kenneth Ndebuka, said that Tanzania’s public procurement systems are built on the principles of transparency and accountability, thereby giving all bidders equal opportunities to participate in Government tenders.
Some participants of the training expressed satisfaction with the knowledge they gained, saying it had helped them better understand the correct procedures for participating in Government tenders and how to avoid mistakes that could deny them opportunities.
