NECTA Announces Standard Four and Form Two National Assessment Results

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has officially announced the results of the Standard Four and Form Two National Assessments conducted in October and November 2025.

NECTA reported that a total of 173,015 students did not sit for the assessments, while the results of 89 students were cancelled due to examination malpractice and the use of abusive language in their answer scripts.

Out of the cancelled results, 41 Standard Four candidates were involved in examination malpractice and eight used abusive language in their scripts. For Form Two, 29 students were found guilty of malpractice, while 11 wrote abusive language in their examination scripts.

The results were announced today, January 10, 2026, by the Executive Secretary of NECTA, Professor Said Mohamed, who stated that the assessments involved students evaluated under two different curriculum systems. He explained that all Standard Four pupils who sat for the 2025 National Assessment were examined under the improved curriculum.

Professor Mohamed further stated that among those who did not sit for the assessments, 93,309 were Standard Four pupils (5.89%), 77,689 were Form Two students (8.74%), and 2,017 were private candidates (21.33%).

He added that in the 2025 Form Two National Assessment, students following the old curriculum were assessed under that system, while those using the improved curriculum (practical stream) sat for the assessment for the first time under the improved curriculum.

Professor Mohamed also announced that starting in 2026, all Form Two students will be assessed under the improved curriculum.
